The Antonov An-225 Mriya, or “dream” in Ukrainian, is a cargo aircraft that was designed by the Soviet Union’s Antonov Design Bureau. It first took to the skies in 1988 and was the largest aircraft ever built until its destruction in 2022.

On February 24, 2022, the An-225 was destroyed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The aircraft was parked at the Antonov airfield in Kyiv when it was attacked by Russian forces.
